Hello,

Looking for some advice please. My 10 month old has always been a terrible sleeper. Since she was about 6 month old, she has woke up at approx 5am no matter what time I put her to bed. Her naps are usually only 30 mins no matter how hard I try to resettle her. The only time she will have a long nap is in the car and my husband takes the car to work. I have tried a sleep trainer and chat gpt and nothing seems to be working, I am at my wits end.

With such short naps she ends up either needing a third nap or an early bedtime which both contribute to early rising. She also wakes up atleast 4 times a night and the past week hourly.

She has no set nap times because her wake up, nap times and bedtime is different every single day. For example, yesterday she woke at 5.15am, First nap 8.15-8.30(tried to resettle for 20 mins) then 2nd nap 11.45-1.15pm (car). The day before I added a short 3rd nap and 7.30pm bedtime and she was up hourly so I didn’t do a 3rd nap yesterday and did a 6pm bedtime, she woke ready for the day at 4.15am!!!!

Is there anything I can be doing to help me and her get a better sleep or do I just deal with it and let go of the fact it can’t be fixed for my own sanity?

My youngest is like this. He’s 2 now and been referred for a tonsillectomy as they’re so big. ENT said it’s common for them to cause poor sleep

I'd do a third nap but later bedtime, like 8-8.30pm. She'll adjust in the next few months to cope with longer gaps, and then you can drop to 2 naps and earlier bedtime. Some kids just don't need long naps, mine is 18 months and often has 1 x 30 min nap, has done for a few months now.
