Toddler sleeping

Hello, does anyone else’s toddler (just turned 3 last week) take ages to fall asleep? He’s good as gold and we have a routine we’ve done since he was pretty much born (dinner bath books bed etc) but once in bed he lays there for ages (laying down, moving about a bit, fiddling with his dummies, cuddling various teddies etc) doesn’t get out of bed or anything like that, but just takes about 30-45 minutes (sometimes longer) to fall asleep. Wondering if this is common/usual or if it’s something I should look into incase he’s having difficulties drifting off and there’s something I can do to help? TIA

My 3.5 year old only does that when he's not quite tired enough to go to sleep. He pretty much needs 12 hours from the time he woke up in the morning. If it's not quite long enough he'll take ages to fall asleep, but if I time it perfectly it takes less than 10 minutes.

Have you tried a bedtime 30 mins later?

Honestly I have absolutely no idea as I didn't stay with mine whilst they fell asleep and didn’t have a video monitor. If he’s fighting sleep and upset then maybe time to drop the nap or if you’ve already done that then could try a later bedtime but if he’s happy winding down in bed with his teddies and you’re watching it on a monitor rather than it eating into your evening then I really wouldn’t worry about it.
