Another 4 month regression one…

I’ve exhausted all “4 month regression” threads so thought I would start my own in this panic stricken, sleep deprived state I am in 🤣

DS has just turned 16 weeks old and low and behold he has gone from sleeping beautifully with only one or two wakes, to waking every two hours/hour and a half for the past 3 nights. He self settles for every nap and every night in his cot, in the same swaddle, same environment - dark, no noise etc. two questions that are going around my mind and I’m hoping someone with experience can shed light on:

  1. Could the fact that he is self settling in the same environment for naps and bed time be confusing him? How does he know when it’s time to sleep for long stretches as opposed to shorter naps?
  2. Will the fact that he can self settle mean the dreaded 4 month regression won’t last too long?

please somebody give me hope 🙏🏼

I’m sorry but my dd is 22 months and never got over this regression. She used to sleep through the night as well. After this regression it’s teething and more regressions. It doesn’t last forever though.

For number one, no, I wouldn't think so. Number two, possibly.

In my experience, the only thing you can do is wait it out. There was no solution but time and babies sleep changing again as they got older.
