Hi
im FTM to now 7 month old DS. Please can anyone help me.
He’s always been a sensitive baby - had colic for the first two months. I was at my wits end. But I learned about wake windows and overtiredness and at 8 weeks I finally found a way to settle him to sleep (bounce and in my arms). I made sure he never extended his wake windows and he got appropriate naps. He then started sleeping through the night within 2 days and all the colic crying disappeared. I had to contact nap him but it was worth it. He hit 4 month sleep regression and again had to adjust how I settled him (nursed to calm, thrn sleep) and he learned to connect sleep cycles. I think worked on getting him to sleep on his own and self-settle. He managed this at around 5 months. Still waking 1-2 times per night but regular naps during the day with little input from me (I would sit near the bed and sometimes like next to him). At six months he got the flu - waking hourly with it etc. it only lasted about a week but his sleep has been severely disrupted since. My old settling techniques don’t work. The only way I can sometimes get him to sleep is in the car. Every couple of days or so he will fall asleep with me in my arms but that is becoming rare. I cut his total daytime sleep to 2-2.25hours and 2 naps a day. Wake windows 2.5-3.5 hours. However, sometimes these go even later as he’s resisting naps. His nights have started to get better - will go to sleep in his own sleep space at bedtime eith me lying next to him and needs very little re-settling at night - a feed and sometimes to be picked up and held. Occasionally walked. However, his wakes can range from 1-5 times a night and js impacted by his daytime sleep.
how can I get him to nap during the day? I’m at my wits end

Would he nap in a pushchair? I contact napped for almost 3 years as my son wouldn't nap anywhere else but with me or in the car, although he was a little old before he started refusing naps in other places than your little one.

You said 'I cut his total daytime sleep to 2-2.25hours and 2 naps a day. Wake windows 2.5-3.5 hours.' What was happening before that? How did you reduce daytime sleep? Did you stop offering the 3rd nap or something?
