Hi My 4 year old slept great until he was 2 .
When he turned 2 he would go to sleep perfect bit wake during the night and stay awake for hours .
He had sleep study etc and had to have his adenoids removed.

Now he still won't sleep he is very active during the day he's at nursery and has after school activities twice a week.

His bed time routine is good batch book relaxing time etc . He will go to sleep no problem but wakes everynight for hours last night he was awake for 4 hours before finally falling back asleep for half an hour then had to wake him for nursery . It's like he's trying to go back to sleep but can't he cried last night and says he wants to sleep but can't. Im at my wits end im exhausted. Ive tried lavender baths tried putting him to bed later . Introduced a night time walk to see if it helped . I used to think it was jusy because he wanted to sleep with me but even when he's in bed with me he still wakes and can't fall asleep again . Been on going for a long time and not sure what is causing it .

This definitely sounds like another trip to the GP is needed.

@DaisyChain505
I've been to the doctor and there response was welcome to parenthood

He has pediatrician appointment for his asthma at the end of the month so think I will speak to them to see what their view point is on it . Im just racking my brain what could be causing it and feel like a bad mum as i just feel at my wits end im that tired and wondering is this normal and not actually caused by anything or is there something causing this .

I'd really push for a pediatrician referral. Waking in the night, not unusual, but being awake for that long, that's not OK as he's not getting enough sleep.
