Putting the cot mattress on the floor to try out a floor bed approach?

I’m currently considering this but I’m reading conflicting things as to whether the mattress should/could be placed against the wall. Can I do it so the head of the mattress is against the wall? Or does the whole thing need to be in the middle of the room?

we went straight to a floor bed - 3 sides of the mattress touch the wall. Seems more sensible as they can only roll off one side!

I am thinking of swapping to a floor bed too and I'm also wondering about this.

The biggest danger is getting stuck between wall and mattress so my current thinking is that the mattress should either be right up against the wall (so no gap at all, or at least no more than a centimetre or two) or in the middle of the room.

I think they are also more likely to roll to the sides of the bed rather than the head end, so if only the head end is touching the wall, that seems safe to me.
