14.5mo does two naps at childminders but I can’t get him down in the morning!

As in the title really. At the childminders, DS has a lovely routine of two naps a day, Mon-Thurs.

But on Fridays (and the weekend but mostly Fridays), I just can’t get him to go to sleep in the morning. He’s been looking tired and rubbing his eyes since 10am. I’ve tried everything, boob, cuddles, stories, dark room, lying in bed together etc.

Why can’t I get him to go to sleep?! He’s clearly so tired.

It’s been like this for about four weeks!

Everything online about dropping to one nap says that the baby will start to refuse the second nap. But I can’t get him down for his first! He’s been awake around five hours now… 😕

Are there other babies taking a nap at the childminder? How is he the rest of the day after one nap?

Personally, I’d roll with it after 4 weeks and plan your day around 1 nap. Both DC had different nap times at nursery v home and it was fine.

Use the buggy or car? Or just try a 1 nap day at home? Mines the opposite, barely naps at nursery

I agree with pp, after 4 weeks just go with one nap. DS (now 5) was down to 1 nap just after he turned 1. I’d always take him to a playgroup in the morning and would be heading home before lunchtime, either he’d be asleep in the buggy by the time we got home or he’d have a bite to eat and then fall asleep very quickly. He would nap for a couple of hours and it was enough to get him through to bedtime.
Don’t worry about what he’s doing with the childminder, they seem to have actual magical powers when it comes to nap time!

At 14 months I'd definitely just do one nap.

Thanks all, in the end on both weekend days we just acquiesced to one nap... I guess this is what we will do now when he is at home...

Then this morning I hear from the childminder that he nodded off happily at 10am for his morning nap as usual haha!
