24 month old dropping nap?

I would love to hear others experiences of their toddler dropping their nap early. My DS has just turned 2 and bedtime is currently taking over 2 hours, regardless to when he naps, or how long he naps for. I’ve tried everything and at my wits end. He’s always taken a long time to go to bed but it’s just getting silly now. The only thing we haven’t tried is dropping the nap entirely. I’ve tried today and he’s so so tired but hasn’t asked to go to bed and is actually in a better mood than normal, just obviously very sleepy.
if anyone has dropped naps early, do they eventually adjust? I feel like an awful mum not letting him sleep but need him to be ready for bed time. I’ll put him to bed earlier. Thanks

My first DD dropped her last nap at 18months and my second DB had naps until he was in reception, although he did fall asleep in class on occasion in reception 🤣. DD always needed more sleep than DB. DD started to drop feeds at 6 weeks old. Everyone is different. You just need to try and find out what works

I found giving them tea early perked them up to keep the going for a little bit longer, when the final nap dropped. What’s making bedtime take so long?

My DS dropped his nap at 18 months, it’s been fine and bed times easier.

Thanks for the reassurance! Bedtime was definitely easier tonight though he was asleep at half 6 so will be up sharp tomorrow and need a nap 😅

@Ghostspritz i have no idea what’s making it take so long. He’s had a consistent bedtime routine since he was 2 months old. We do the usual white noise, black out blinds, calm activities, follow wake windows etc etc. he has always fought sleep but it’s reached a new level recently x

I'm in the same boat and also don't know what to do!

My 23 month old does get grumpy if she doesn't nap but she refuses to nap until 4 or 5 pm and then won't go to bed until 10 or 11!!

@BastetBaby its so hard isn’t it? Well DS went 2 day with dropped nap and started to flag early afternoon but we had some stories and got some fresh air. Bedtime routine at 6 and he was out like a light at 6:30. He had an hours nap today as he was up for the day so early and is only just asleep for bed at almost 9pm! Think I’ll cut the nap to 30 mins next time he needs one!
