DS has forgotten how to settle himself

DS is coming up to 8 months, and since we have been back from a week in Spain, he has forgotten how to get over to sleep. He is bf and I am finding myself resorting to boobies at 2, 4 and 6 when he is incinsolable. I know I am probably getting into a vicious circle but I don;t know what else to do, he is getting so upset!
Daytime naps are just the same, I just spent an hour trying to settle him and he has just gone to sleep after using me as a great big dummy
I went to baby clinic but there wasn't much decent advice, if he is still the same in a couple of weeks they will refer us to a sleep clinic - what the hell do they do there? Drug him?
