9 month old sleep routine

My baby slept very well throughout the night up until 4 months old. For example, he would go to bed at 9.30pm and wake probably once a night for a feed or sometimes he would not wake at all and stay asleep until 7/8am. After 5 months however, he is waking every 3 hours, which I understand is normal, sleep regression, teething etc. The issue I’m having at the moment is that the past few nights he will go to bed at 9/9.30pm after a bath and feed, sleep for an hour and then wake up and refuse to go to sleep! I feed him, try rocking him with lights off and no distractions but he has no desire to go to sleep 😩. He is now 9 months old. He becomes very hyper and plays with his toys and crawls everywhere and will refuse to sleep until midnight, sometimes even after midnight! Have any other mums experienced this? If so, any tips on how to get him to sleep longer throughout the night? I am due to return to work soon after my maternity leave and baby refusing to sleep till midnight is impacting my sleep and mental health, I’m dreading how I’ll manage waking up for work if this continues. I have tried not putting to him to bed after 5pm and shorter naps throughout the day, however nothing is helping. Any tips would be useful 🥺

What naps is he having ?

How much daytime sleep is he having?

We capped naps at two hours per day and that helped a lot when our dd was staying up for 3 hour stretches in the middle of the night.

If you are doing shorter naps, for example, you likely won't see the impact straight away, you need to make a change for a couple of weeks.
