Hello I have my baby in a sleep suit and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and my gro egg says it is 21.6 degrees in here but it really does not feel like it, is this safe for baby I’m so scared about him overheating but he kicks his blankets off😩

Hey OP, how does your baby feel temp wise- are they sweaty?

MumChp · 08/11/2025 23:40

Put the heating a bit down? Open a window?

At 21.6 C your child would be fine in night wear without blankets and sleeping bag.

MyChicGreyShaker · 08/11/2025 23:40

Also if it makes you feel any better I never measured the temp of my houses or baby’s room and they survived just fine :) I’m sure your baby is absolutely fine.

Gall2003 · 08/11/2025 23:45

No he doesn’t feel sweaty but just really scares me I feel like I don’t want to go to sleep just so I can make sure he’s not overheating😩

I don’t have the heating on it’s not been on for a few hours now I really don’t think my gro egg is accurate as it doesn’t feel hot in my room at all

Then definitely go with your instinct. They’re not sweaty, you don’t feel overly hot either. I can assure you they will be absolutely fine. 2.5 tog is what I used to use throughout autumn / winter and often times in to spring. Just in the cot / cot bed - long sleeve sleepsuit or bodysuit and the grobag, no blankets. Normal sized house with no heating on overnight.

Honestly it’s just part and parcel being a new mum I used to worry about everything. I’d sleep next to mine with my hand on their chest to make sure they were still breathing! Take it from me you’re doing great, your child is fine (and sounds like they’re blissfully asleep) just keep a watchful (but not obsessive!) eye on them. I hope you manage to get some sleep too :) x

Absolutely! Mines much older now and each day there’s a new worry 😆 you’re doing fab. Please rest! X

Try not to worry, if the sleep suit is light, he'll need the grow bag for extra warmth during the night, open a window for 10 minutes now, if it makes you feel better. ❤️

Go on your instinct OP. Remember grow eggs and the like weren’t always around and sometimes technology makes things worse. If you can sleep in the room
comfortably then DC will be fine, ie not too hot not too cold. It’s better for them to be cooler than too warm and it’s mild hers so I’m assuming it’s the same where you are?

I have two, ones almost an adult and my youngest a teenager so it’s been a while but your instinct knows best.
