2 year sleep regression

Hoping to some solidarity from others who are going through the same sleep crap as we are. 😅 DS (just turned 2) has for the last 2.5 weeks been consistently waking up in the night somewhere between midnight - 3am. It possibly started a bit earlier in late September, but was less consistent.

Anyway, he wakes up and calls out for us, getting increasingly annoyed and upset the longer we leave him. We have been bringing him into our bed, so we can all get some sleep. Sometimes he falls asleep instantly, other times he can be thrashing around for up to 3 hours trying to fall asleep. He doesn't want to play or chat, just trying to settle himself. Trying to re-settle him in his cot is a big no no. Just gets hysterical and more wide awake.

He sleeps in his cot in his room, white noise, dummy, blankie and black out blind - same set up for over a year. No big changes etc. Before this he was sleeping 7pm - 7am and no wake ups (unless ill or something). At bedtime he is often overtired and crying etc, I put him on my chest and he falls asleep and then I plonk him in his cot. Again, same for over a year. He is often overtired as he naps only 20 minutes at nursery 🙄 (3 days a week), at home he still naps somewhere between 30mins - 1 hour. The 20 minute naps seem to have started around the same time as the above silliness.

Anyone else have this sudden change? I am hoping it us just the regression and will disappear, but part of me thinks it might be here to stay... 🫠

I’ve just posted similar thread, my usual angel sleeper now wakes up any time between 9pm and midnight ( and once 3am) and is crying hysterically. Like you I’ve bought him into my bed but I don’t want it long term. I hope it’s just a phase

Has sleep improved yet? My youngest turned 2 last month and having slept through every night, has for the last few nights been waking a couple of times a night, altogether awake for about 2 hours or more. We've put a duvet/pillow on the floor next to his cot so we can doze (we stay until he goes to sleep, otherwise he just cries..). Also hoping it stops again (soonish..) as suddenly as it started!
