Baby has stopped sleeping

Hi all,

Our 11 month old, up to recently, has been a great sleeper. Usually one or two wake ups for a feed, and quite easily back to sleep. The week before it all changed, she was sleeping through until 6am… we thought we’d cracked the nights!

For the last couple of weeks, the nights are really unpredictable. She goes to bed fine; easily, in fact, but 10pm rolls around, when we are going to bed, and she won’t go back to sleep, or it takes hours. She doesn’t want to be held, she won’t be put down, she doesn’t want milk, cries, whines. Then finally, will change her mind, have her milk and go back to sleep and put into her cot!

Then 3am comes, and it’s the same all over again, but this time, won’t go back into her cot, so has to stay in the double bed in her room with my wife or me, so we can’t sleep, because she fidgets, cries out, sits up… please someone tell me this is going to end, and if you’ve got any advice?!

I feel like I’m going slowly mad… I’ve not slept properly for days, and I’m just becoming so easily angered, which isn’t like me.

Sounds like a drop in sleep needs and/or developmental leap. I’d start by working out what it is she needs in 24hrs and cutting day sleep. Could take a week or two to see a consistent change.

id also make sure she hasn’t got worms as that’s very disruptive to nights.
