Bedtime routine gone to pot - HELP

Hi, dd is 19mo. Her routine used to be that we would put her in her cot at 8pm awake and she would fall tosleep on her own and then she would then wake around 6.30ish. However, over the last few weeks this has gone by the wayside. She now flatly refuses to go in to her cot and is never ready to go to sleeep until gone 9pm. We have to lie her on our bed with either my or dh and wait for her to fall asleep before putting her in her cot. Friends of mine who have roughly same aged children put there lo to bed around 7.30ish. Can anyone help or give any suggestions. Thanks

Hi, not sure if this will help, but here goes. I have ds1 who is nearly six and ds2 who is 2. Because of ds1 going to bed later, ds2 is now protesting at going to bed at his usual 7pm. I'm really miffed because bedtimes have always been fairly stress free in our house. So over the last few nights I've gone completely back to basics - bath, milk, story, bed. He doesn't particularly like it, but it's getting easier every night. You may have to persevere and have a bit of toing and froing at first, but stick with it and keep putting her back into her cot - hopefully she'll get the message. Good luck.
