6 month old sleep routine

Hey all,

my second baby is now 6 months and I just wanted to ask about sleep patterns as hers is all over the place

my firstborn was like clockwork. Everyday was basically the same. But now I’ve had my second she is the opposite. Just completely random everyday.

so currently I log everything so I can see the difference everyday.

sometimes she has 3 naps that are 25min long. Sometimes she has 4 naps that are 10min each. She’s just a very poor sleeper through the day.

she sleeps through the night. Usually between 8pm and 6am. She will wake up for a feed at 11pm then at 4am but goes straight back down.

yesterday for example, she woke up at 7am. 1st nap at 9:15am (30min long) then at 12:40pm 2nd nap (15min long) then at 4:30pm 3rd nap (15min long). All together she’s had an hour split into 3. Through the day I am absolutely exhausted.

she seems ok through the day but she is an unsettled baby lately due to teething.

any advice how I can get her into a routine. I’m just following her lead at the moment but it’s very tiring.

Sounds like she's actually in a pretty good routine. She's sleeping really well at night and her total amount of sleep seems fine really if she's not grumpy and tired (unless right before a nap/bedtime). With your first you could just do what they needed - with a second they have to fit in so naps end up being affected by school runs and whatever else is going on.
