how do i make the cot more like a moses basket?

my 7mo has recently started refusing to sleep in his cot, despite havin slept there contentedly for about 2.5 months. for the last 2ish weeks he's ended up sleeping in his buggy. tonight i tried putting him back into the moses basket and, unbelievably, he went off to sleep! the problem is that he's aa big old unit and i am worried about him being in the mb on his own as i reckon he could tip it over if he tried. his head also touches the top....
so my question is how can i safely make the cot feel more like a moses basket? i so wary of puttin things into the cot as lord knows whaat mischief or damage he could do to himself. can anyone suggest a safe way of making the cot feel smaller please??

Have you thought of a Amby nest? They go up to 1year. Other than that, tuck him in tight, but no other ideas

You could always put the moses basket in the cot for now- it'd make the basket safe and untippable, and get him used to sleeping in his cot again.

put the moses basket in the cot untill he gets more used to the cot. that is what i did with dd2

Definitely basket back into the cot, then maybe roll up blankets or towels and tuck them under his bottom sheet to make a snuggly nest. Good luck!

When we could be bothered were new parents we too put pfb in the moses basket in the cot to 'ease' junior's transfer

Then we foreshortened his bed by putting a cushion under the fitted sheet so he could never end up under it, iyswim.

And then discovered the miracles of grobags

DD2 was just put in her cot.

thanks chaps. i was thinking of trying that but thought the whole 'head touching the top' business might be a prob, but everyone seems to disagree! just been to check on him and he's snoring happily. it seems like yonks since i said that. really keeping everything crossed right now....
i actually own an amby hammock but seem to be the only person in the world who doesn't rate them. trying to sell it at the mo but to no avail! alas.

We rolled up a towel, but hair bands around it so that it couldnt be unrolled, the wrapped the liner from the moses basket round it so that it smelt "familiar" after a few days we took the cover off... he still has the towel...6 months later.

wrap in bamboo, woven reeds etc.?

(couldn't help myself, sorry.)

Hi booboobunny, could you put cot bumpers all the way round the cot so it is enclosed like a moses basket but a bigger space. We did this with DS1 to ease the transition between moses basket and cot (he was our PFB, otoh, DS2 was just plonked into the cot one night!!)
