How long does your 5 month old nap?

My baby is 5.5 months and I think we need to tweak his nap schedule. He's been waking up more in the night and waking earlier for the day. The last couple of nights have been better overall, but he woke up at 4am today and it took nearly an hour to get him back down. 😬 He also wakes a couple of hours after initially going to bed.
He would nap around 3.75h before, tweaked it to just over 3h and saw improvement, but not sure if it's too less now with still having the 4am waking?
Naps are a minefield! Please share with me your nap schedule 😊 (I know every baby is different!)

Btw he does 3 naps. The last one being 20m or so and around 3h before bed. 😊

Maybe a 30 min nap about 930-10. A 2 hour nap around 12/12.30-2/2.30 another 30 min nap around 4/4.30 then bed from about 8/8.30 to 7.30/8.30 no night wakes

Amazing. My oldest my son used to wake every hour// 2 hours until he was 2 but my younger 2, girls slept through. One from 8 week old and the other from 10 week old, unless they were ill or a bit of sleep regression but straight back to sleeping through after a week or 2. I was very lucky with them. But my son was a nightmare that’s why I left it 8 years to have more children

Mine rarely exceeds 3 hours. She's 5 months:
Nap 1: around 30-45 mins at 0900ish
Nap 2: around 1-1.5 hour at 12:00ish
Nap 3 around 30-45 mins at 3:30ish

Currently baby has a cold and has only managed 30 mins each nap 😔

Wow - so my kids are now older - youngest is now 9. But at 5 months they only napped twice. 2 hours at the time more or less sometimes 1h30 min and they all slept through the night. First baby slept through the night at 8 weeks, second baby at 10 weeks and 3rd baby at 81/2 weeks.

Interesting that your schedules are similar @painarr @Whenyoupickapawpaw. Did they fall into this themselves, or do you cap naps?
My LO slept 3h 20m yesterday but has only done 8h 50m overnight. Woke up 3 times and currently attempting to settle him back for longer as he woke up before 6 for a feed. I really don't know where we're going wrong, he needs more overnight sleep than that. We woke him from every nap yesterday so he didnt sleep too long, but I dont know now if that was the right decision? I feel like we really need help figuring this out, we all need more night sleep but don't know how to get there!

If anyone out there can advise me, please do!!

I don't usually cap naps as they're rarely long enough to. I may gently stir her in the last nap so it doesnt go past 5pm so I can ensure she goes to bed between 6:30-7:30pm. She doesn't yet sleep through the night. She wakes twice in the night for feeds and a couple times just needing resettling. She has a tendency to now wake at 5:30am babbling and fidgeting but i try and keep ignore or settle her until she gives up / goes back to sleep until 0700ish.

I'm sorry you're struggling. Sleep is definitely one of the biggest battles/stressors for me so I feel your pain. I think for my LO, aiming for a consistent bedtime (6:30-7:30pm), keeping play to a minimum beforehand and having a little routine of feed, nappy, sleepsuit and cuddle before bed helps. However I have no tips for keeping her asleep til morning as we're not there yet 😩

Does your LO have reflux? Mine does and I feel like it prevents her from filling up before bed and staying asleep as she gets hungry and then uncomfortable during the night, but that's just my best guess! X

Sorry, edited to say no she doesn't fall asleep independently yet. Needs rocking or stroking and a dummy x

Aww @Whenyoupickapawpaw thank you for replying. Im completely clueless with baby sleep. When we had things working well, everything changed suddenly and nights became so bad! So we need to switch something up...but don't know where exactly 🙃 sorry your little girl has a cold, I hope she gets better soon! No I dont think he has reflux. Night wakings are hard arent they. Especially when they wake early too. Hopefully we'll all get more sleep soon 😴
