4 Year Old Sleep Issues

I’m looking for some advise on my 4 year olds sleep. Ever since he turned 2, he does not sleep though the night and wakes up multiple times. Sometimes it’s for a wee (which is fine) sometimes a bad dream but the majority of the time he says he doesn’t know how to sleep.

His bedtime routine is dinner, wind down time, bath, book then bed. He won’t fall asleep without you in the room either. He normally gets into bed around 7 and asleep by 7:30. Wakes up numerous times during the night and will wake for the day from 5:30 onwards. We’ve tried earlier and later bedtimes, loads of activity during the day but still wakes lots.

Any advise on how to get him to sleep through the night and to stop early awakening's are welcomed.

What have you suggested to him so far?

I would get him a gaint cuddly toy and tell him to just snuggle down and be cosy so he can rest and then he doesn’t need to fall asleep. He mostly likely will go back to sleep.

Yeah he’s got a bear that he hardly uses, a blankie he has just at night that he’s had since birth, we’ve decorated his room to how he wanted it so he had space to call his own. The only times he sleeps through is if he’s in bed with me but that’s not practical.
