help me - my arms are falling off

can anyone offer advice on how to get my 8 week old daughter to take daytime naps in her basket rather than in my arms/lying on my chest? she used to sleep in her basket during the day for short periods but in the last three weeks she refuses point blank to do it. am worried that all the holding from myself and her family has ruined her. Or am I expecting too much from her at such a young age? Is it too early to train her? Thankfully, she does spend most of the night sleeping in her basket, but I never get a break during the day unless I take her out.

she may well be ready to move into a cot of soem description, dd was about the same age when she refused to slepp in her basket. maybe you could also get her one of those cuddlies things and hold it next to you when you sleep, then transfer it to her during the day? hth x

Try not to get into the habit of having to take her out for a walk or a drive to get her to sleep - rod for your own back, and all that. What's different about daytime that she won't sleep then - light levels / noise levels?

How about a baby hammock, google or look on Ebay, they're supposed to be very good? Or maybe try inclining the basket a bit, with something under the head of it? My DS didn't like being too flat in the moses basket.

Have you tried swaddling?

Hmm, sorry, can't think of anything else .... I don't think you can 'ruin' them though, it is probably a phase of some sort (standard mummy get-out clause!)
