How do you go back to normal after illness?

DS2 has had a very bad tummy bug, with runny poos for 14 days (!!) and has been waking up at all hours of the night because of the pain. Now the bug is pretty much gone, but he is still waking up, expecting to be picked up, to be cuddled, and to fall asleep on me which was OK when he was unwell, but not now. How do you 'avoid' giving your DC bad 'sleeping habits' when they are ill? How do you manage to go back to their normal sleep pattern? (he is 1 year old, and had been sleeping through for a few months).

Many thanks!

its a case of riding it through instead of picking up just stay calm and say ssshhh sleep time if you have to sit with back to him buy his bedroom door dont speak jsut be there usually they fall asleep with no worries as comfort of knowing your there

keep doing this until calm enogugh to be able to leave the room it's just teaching them again that no fuss of a night time

even when ill now is the time to not get into bad habits as so hard to get them out of it i know as my ds is 3 and still has to come into my room some nights now have bed on the floor to break habit of being in with me
