10 month old naps every morning for and hour and afternoon for half hour to an hour

how does this change with time - i mean when do they lose their morning nap??

i dont think mine could survive without his precious morning nap...so am curious how he'd cope if going to nursery etc

What tends to happen at about 18 months-- ish is that the morning nap gets later and morphs into an early afternoon nap. But it really depends on your child.

I've had some that needed 2 sleeps until about 18 months. My current 2 year old needs a sleep still but tends to crash where she falls iyswim?

My 13 month old would go through the entire day without a sleep given half a chance. He has always hated sleeping during the day ( even as a tiny baby ) but I tend to put him down to sleep at some point when he's getting inbearably grumpy.

He only ever sleeps for max an hour once a day

My DS is 20 months and his pattern is that he seems to be able to go for about 5 hours from waking up and then needs a nap at about 11 or 12. He'll usually sleep for 2 hours and then be up again until bedtime at 7pm.
He dropped his morning nap quite early on - before he wa a year old and just gradually the length of time between waking in the morning and needing his nap has lengthened.

DD had 2 naps of about 1.5hrs each until she was about 14 months then I dropped the morning one and she has had one a day 12.30-2.30 ever since - she is now almost 3!

ds1 has just turned 2 and he had 2 naps a day until he was about 15 months, now he has a nap about 10.30 - 12, and is fine after that until bedtime which is about 6.30-7

DS1 had 2 x 1hour naps a day until he was about 20 months. then 1 x 2 hour afternoon nap until he was 2 and a half.
DS2 had 2 x 2 hour naps a day until he was about 18 months and now has 1x 2hour nap in the afternoon... long may it continue. he is 20 months.
they have both slept 12 hours at night since a few months old and day naps for us haven't made a difference to over nights.
