Sleep regression or jet lag or reality?

Doing my best with baby 2 (days from turning 1) after returning from a 6 week trip to LA - caught a cold on the way back, mixed with jet lag and now I’m in a situation (8 days later) where bambino wakes at 11pm every night for 2-3 hours. Since 5 months has been a through the night sleeper with no difficulties, great napper!
We’re in the process of trying to shorten day time naps to 1.5 hours x2 (to solve this problem, we’ve always let baby nap to their routine and never any problem), fixed bed time along with routine (which we’ve always done) but nothing is stopping this 3 hour midnight wake window. Just can’t put our finger on if it’s jet lag related (2.75 year old is seemingly over jet lag) or a regression?
During night time wake window baby is generally chill, will lie in arms quiet, sometimes eyes open, the odd whinge, sometimes very light sleep where any attempt to return to crib is met with “what you doing” eyes! plan is to stick to the routine for another week but wondering if there were other thoughts I could build in?
thanks in advance!

I think it's jetlag.

I would soothe in the cot during these wake windows. No chat, no real engagement. They need to know that it's still night time. Don't give any food or milk, just water. Shush and pat or soothe and walk away or whatever works, but only bedtime activities.

In terms of nap I would be looking at one short nap in the morning (maybe 20-30 mins) and one long nap after lunch (up by 3:30pm latest), no more sleep until bedtime at 7pm, but nothing wrong with two same lengths naps if that works.

After 8 nights little kiddo slept through last night so here’s hoping. I on the other hand was awake the whole night “waiting” for him to wake up” so I’m exhausted now - go figure 😂
