Hi, I have a daughter just turned 5 months. Before the 4 month sleep regression she started sleeping 10-6 with no wakings this happened for a week or so then the regression struck and there was frequent wakings every 3 hrs for a feed which I know is normal however I feel like we’ve never got out of the regression DD is going to bed around 8/8.30 pm falls asleep in the cot by herself within minutes of being set down will sleep for maybe an hour and all of a sudden DD will start crying and we will have to resettle her, usually with dummy. This will then go on every 30 minutes or so for a couple of hours then She will do maybe a 4hr stretch and then up doing the same thing from around 5am. What are we doing wrong here?? DD has 3 naps recently they have been only 30 minutes long where as a few weeks ago her second nap would of always been the longest. Can anyone help at all I’m not sure if I’m missing something or going wrong somewhere, but the constant wakening and having to resettle is really getting to me and feel like DD has been doing this for so long and no signs of it getting better :(

this is normal, when my DD was goin through the sleep regression I felt bonkers! We missed the 4 month one but the 7 and 9 month one was so bad, I remember going in work on a few hours asleep. They say it only lasts 4-6 weeks each one.
Just try and get sleep while you can like naps in the day.
DD2 is 12 weeks and she goes 9-5am but I know this will change soon! And I’m not looking forward to it

Yes I definitely feel like we just never really got out of the regression properly. She doesn’t really have the same wake up time every morning either so I think I will set a time to get up for every morning maybe it will give us a bit of a better routine and at the moment it’s all over the place. I have a 5 year old to and she was such a good sleeper that I just don’t know how to approach this wee one lol

At 6months, DD2 just stopped sleeping overnight (she had been doing 11pm-7am from around 3months). She would only sleep if we were cosleeping. So we rearranged our room, bought a next2me forever, DH moved into the spare room and basically committed to just doing whatever was needed for all of us to get some sleep. We ended up cosleeping until she was 15months and weve just now got her sleeping in her own cot and own room. It was all at her own pace though - we only moved her because we noticed she was starting to self settle herself on our bed. Now we settle her in our room / bed and then after 10mins, transfer her to her cot where she'll sleep through until around 6am. Totally different to DD1, who was sleeping through from around 9months and has very rarely woken herself up before 7.30am! But they are just different people and what worked for DD1 made DD2 worse. I did all naps as contact naps and yes it has been frustrating at times, but it definitely made me slow down and actually she has got there in her own time. Im pleased I followed her lead a bit and obviously we are lucky enough to have a spare room which made it all easier.
