my 15 month old goes to bed and sleeps well every night (yes I'm lucky!!) He goes at about 7pm and sleeps until 6-6.15 am. However for the last few eeks he has woken at 4.30 ish crying and I have put his dummy in. He then goes back until 5.45 ish and then wakes up sobbing. He has never done this before he usually wakes in a good mood and shouts hiya or daddy! Any ideas? He has had nbo jabs or accidents or anything else I can think of. There has been no change in when the heating comes on or anything like that - Help!!

No solutions I'm afraid, Helsbels, just sympathy. My dd did this for a while but after a couple of months it did stop and she was back to her usual cheerful self in the mornings. It WILL pass !

Do you think that maybe he is teething as this can cause them to wake like your son is?

Could he be having a nightmare? Has he had a new toy (stupid question - as it is a week after Christmas) that is in his room that may be frightening him - my dd was given a clown and it had this affect on her - fortunately, she was old enough to tell me that she was dreaming of a nasty clown who was chasing her. Clown removed from her room and she was fine after a couple of nights.

Thanks for your responses - I am pleased to announce that this web site is magic! This morning he slept soundly until 6.15 and woke up with just a little whimper - obviously a problem shared......
