Anyone else feeling knackered but can’t sleep?

I’m 50 and lately I’ve been shattered all day but then when it’s time for bed my brain just won’t switch off. I lie there for hours thinking about stuff and barely sleep.
I don’t drink much tea or coffee, try not to nap, even cut back on screens before bed but nothing’s working. I’m not particularly stressed, just this awful tired-but-wired feeling.
Has anyone else been through this? How did you fix it? I’m worried it’s just going to get worse now I’m getting older.
Would love any advice or tips. feeling a bit fed up with it all.

Have you tried magnesium glycinate?
No caffeine after 12md.
Look to destress, so yoga/pilates, mindfulness, hobbies like colouring books, whatever relaxes you.

Yes, me, now and regularly. I do all the right things but it still happens. I switch on the cosy light after a couple of hours of tossing, have a glass of milk, scroll on here and try again in 30 mins.

I'm the same. Tired all day and wide awake at bedtime! I like listening to audiobooks in bed. I usually set a timer and drift off listening. Finding a narrator with a soothing voice helps! Also I don't attempt to sleep till I'm at least feeling a bit sleepy.

Following with interest. I’m struggling too. Mid fifties. Drink no caffeine at all now. I find eating late doesn’t help but even when I eat early, I’m often really restless. And even when I sleep, it’s never for more than a couple of hours at a time 🤷‍♀️

I started taking magnesium 3 days ago and my sleep has improved so much already. I was actually taking it to get rid of my desire for sweet food after dinner so the sleep is a bonus 😊

The Calm app is good. It has a range of different methods including breathing techniques, music, relaxing stories etc. .

Yep me. I can’t take magnesium because it interacts with another medication I’m on. And I’ve done all the other stuff. I never have caffeine after 12, I have a wind down, limit screens, read before bed. Nothing works. It’s driving me batshit.
