17 month old refusing to sleep in cot

My dd has not been the greatest sleeper, since 12 months i have been able to lay her down in her cot, put white noise on and leave the room, she would immediately fall asleep. My issue was that she would not stay asleep, waking throughout the night, eventually i would get in her in bed with me just so i can get some sleep whilst she bf back to sleep.

She has now turned 17 months and as soon as i lay her down in her cot she screams and gets back up so i have resorted to patting her to sleep. She caught hand foot & mouth from nursery 2 weeks ago so i have encouraged the patting to sleep to make her comfortable.

Tonight was totally different, she did not want to be patted and screamed every time i lay her in the cot. Eventually we cuddled for a very long time and after a few attempts by my dh he managed to put down her in the cot.

She wakes consistently throughout the night and eventually ends up in bed with us. I either bf her back to sleep or we pat her, throughout the night.

We both work and also have a 6 year old to attend too, her loud screams often wake him up. Myself and DH are exhausted-we just want to be able to sleep!

Any advice/help will be very much appreciated!!

Our dd was a terrible sleeper and never spent any time in her cot. She slept with me for 18 months and then went straight into a bed. Whatever gets you through the night is my view.

Did This resolve? My 8 month old suddenly hates his cot too

My issue with dd sleep never resolved. We ended up cosleep all night long, she refuses to get inside her cot.
I am planning to stop bf as she is 21 months and uses bf more for comfort and nights. And also transfer her to her own big girls bed soon!
