Nearly 9 month old - what’s this new sleep/nap schedule all about?! 😅

DS has recently dropped from three to two naps. When he was on three naps we’d usually get two naps of 30-40 mins and one of around 1 hr - 1 hr 20.

He’s been on two naps for a couple of weeks now and the naps are longer but today really has taken the biscuit! It’s been:

Wake: 8:10am
Nap 1: 11:35-2:05 (2.5 hours!)
Nap 2: 5:35-7:05pm (1.5 hours)

With a likely bedtime of 10:50pm according to the Huckleberry app which is strangely accurate… a bit late!

Is four hours of napping normal in a two nap day? I wouldn’t mind but we have to contact nap so I’ve had four hours of a dead arm and my nipple trapped in his mouth 😂

Is this just a phase while he gets used to a two nap day?!

9 months is when daytime sleep becomes blissful! Also around when mine started magically sleeping in the cot instead of contact naps - worth a go?

My DC2 started going down for naps awake in his cot around 9 months actually. DC1 wouldn't until 12 months though. But both of mine had dummies for sleep - they didn't feed to sleep in the daytime. DC1 was bottle fed and DC2 mostly breastfed.

My 8 month old DC3 however has recently moved to 2 naps and often only naps for around 2hrs all day. He also still wakes loooooads every night often for prolonged periods. He's the only one who hasn't taken a a dummy so I'm convinced that's why he's such a rubbish sleeper compared to my other two!

I’d aim to end naps by 4pm and wake windows to 3 hours. I’d go by the clock though as you kind of need to with solids!

Prayer!! Though I think developmentally they were just ready? I decided to try pop them in it at the start of every nap, and if it didn't work I changed to a contact nap. Gradually they got more used to it, and stopped needing to switch to a contact nap. Also EBF so occasional milk needed! I always rocked or fed to sleep first though.

At that age my little one used to wake up around 6am, nap 9-11 then again around 2-3, then bed around 7pm. He’d have happily slept longer in the afternoon if we let him but we’d wake him up at 3 so he’d be able to go to sleep at 7
