Toddler sleep

Hi all. My LO is 14 months old and we are struggling with his sleep. He has never been a good sleeper - we worked with a sleep consultant when he was 7 months old and has some success but his sleep has completely deteriorated.

He has started walking recently which I know can impact their sleep. He has plenty of food during the day and still relies on milk lots, especially when he gets home from nursery and before bed. He still wakes 2-3 times a night and will scream and protest until we give him some milk. I know he is having more than enough food to sustain him through the night but I have no idea how to wean him off milk at night. He can sign milk so he makes it very clear when he wants some.

we would like to cut out all milk feeds during the night and ideally only offer 2 bottles in the day but this boy loves his milk!!

any suggestions would be amazing

It’s so hard isn’t it. Have you tried offering water instead of milk? I’ve heard that can make them realise it’s not worth bothering you when they wake up because they won’t get milk. I keep a toddler cup of water in their beds.

I’m no expert, I’ve got a nearly 4 year old who is a champion sleeper and an 18 month old who apparently doesn’t require sleep to survive!

We’ve tried water and watered down milk! He just loves his milk so much! I’ve just bought a toddler cup to try so thank you!

I’m hoping one day he realises the importance of sleep 😂
