Hey all,

I desperately need help. My 7 month old refuses to nap without being held (mostly by me, if we want longer than 20 minutes)

I've tried putting him down awake, drowsy, dead asleep and he just instantly wakes. Even when his bum is just hovering the crib. I've also tried CIO and Ferber, patting, shhhing, rocking but it just doesn't work. I go back to work in 3 months and I'm really worried this won't end.

He still waked hourly at night also, he has never been a good sleeper since he was born. If I hold him he needs access to the boob to else he just gets mad.

From 6pm, he let's us put him in the crib but before that, no way. Won't even let me put him on the bed etc.

I desperately need some advice please.

Details are as follows

  • 7 months old
  • Currently between 2hr - 3hr wake windows
  • Bedtime routine is pull curtains, white noise in back ground and some Hewy Lewis playing. Read a book and feed. (He really struggles to go off without boob)
  • From 6pm to - 7:30pm he will go off to sleep depending on naps.
  • Normally wakes at 4am - 5am and will then have to sleep on me until 7am.

The only advice I have is persistence, sorry!

I was having the exact same issue with my LO until around 7.5months when, all of a sudden, she was happy to be put down. It pretty much happened overnight, one day she woke as soon as she was put down & the next day she napped in her cot.
