Room sharing with baby

Hi I was just wondering my baby is nearly 10 months old and sleeps in a next to me type bed in our room. I’m not ready for them to go and sleep in their bed room. Is it ok to have them stay sleeping in your room? Was thinking about bringing their cot into our room or seeing if there was a next to me type thing for older babies? I was just wondering if others did this. Thanks

My kids were 9 months - 1 yr - 18 months before they moved to their own rooms, if it works for you why change it? I would move them to a cot though as I think the next to me styles aren't safe for babies who can sit up.

@PaganOfTheYuleTimes thankyou for your reply. When you moved your 18 month old was it a struggle for them? I’m just so not ready but don’t want to make it hard for them.

No, not a struggle. He was due an op about 12 months so I'd delayed moving him for rhat reason, op was then postponed, but when he was better he moved happily to his 'big boy room' and was fine with it!

Ah ok, Thankyou for your advice.

When mine was too big for a next to me, but up way too much in the night to go into their own room, I used a travel cot at the end of the bed. Lots more space, and gave some peace of mind (although dad was definitely counting down to when the cot was getting moved to another room!).

Both my older two were in with us until about 18m and I presume my youngest will be the same. They both were sleeping through by then and moved into their own rooms with no problems ehatsoever. They can stay with you as long as you want really. I would say by 3it would be good to have a separate bedroom though if circumstances allow.

I think it sounds sensible to keep baby in with you if you are happy to, a cot would be ideal if it fits in your room. Ours were in until 1 and a bit years old and were just fine going in to their own rooms

There is a bigger size Next To Me, I should have bought it as my youngest wanted to stay with us for longer. And then ended up sleeping in my bed.

We had DDs cot in our room until 18 months as we lived in a 1 bed flat and were waiting to move. Worked fine although I sleep better with separate rooms.
