Those who co-slept after baby-hood, when did you stop?

Just wondering - parents who co-slept with DC after the age of 2 when did you stop? And was it a difficult transition or fairly easy? My DD is 4.5 and we still co-sleep, it works out pretty well as I’m a single parent and we both love it. However I feel like she’s getting older and maybe it’s time to get her into her own bed, she has her own room and I’ve recently replaced her cot (she slept in a cot as a baby and only started co-sleeping with me at around 15 months) with a bed (flat-pack sitting on the floor unconstructed!). She seems excited about having her own bed. Although she often gets excited about the idea of something and when it comes down to it she doesn’t want to do it. If she resists once the bed is ready should I just carry on co-sleeping until she decides she doesn’t want to do it anymore or does it get harder to get them into their own bed when they’re older?

  1. She just decided one night. She always had her own bedroom.

It was a gradual thing for us, with dd coming and going between her bedroom and ours as she pleased. The balance just gradually tilted towards her own room over time.

Around 5. We sort of had to push it to end because he was (and still is) such a restless sleeper that no-one was getting enough sleep.
He always had his own room and usually started off there before coming in beside us.
If it hadn't been for the lack of sleep I wouldn't have worried about it. I miss listening to him breathing away beside me.
