Nap training a 6 month old

Hi all!

I need some help with daily naps for my 6 month old, he is currently going 2/3 hours in-between naps.
He has only ever contact napped on myself and his Dad but refuses to be put down for naps. He just won't.

At bedtime (depending on his naps, normally around 6:30 routine, 7pm feed and then asleep) he is normally great. When it's past 6pm onwards it's like he thinks 'yeah I've had enough of you, you can go now' and will let us put him down but during the day, unless he's in his pram there is no hope for me to put him down. I've tried awake, drowsy and asleep. I've done the same motions as bedtime, I've tried staying by his side. I can't seem to crack it.

Any advice?

Thanks

I never cracked this either, always did pram naps or contact naps but she did gradually grow out of it around 10 months and could at least nap longer in the pram and go off right away as soon as I put her in the pram, so I sort of developed a pram sleep association using wake windows.

Do you BF? I found feeding on my side in a floor bed and then rolling away was a good way to transition. I still put my 20 month old to sleep for all naps by BF (or pushchair naps) but she will at least nap on her own once asleep and has done since about 7-8 months. I’m very gentle though and don’t believe in leaving babies to cry at all.

Yeah, exclusively BF and nearly always feed to sleep. I'm really worried as I'm back to work in August and have no idea what is going to happen with his sleep. Hopefully, like you said he will grow out of it a bit.
