Reflux causing sleep issues for my newborn

My DS is 5 weeks old and we're trying to manage reflux type symptoms.

He is exclusively formula fed Aptamil anti-reflux formula, we pace feed and hold upright after feed for 30 mins, burp throughout feed.

During the day we will hold him as much as possible to keep him upright but this is not always possible at night when we need to get some sleep. We are taking it in turns with shifts so should we need to there is one of us on hand to hold him but this won't work long term.

When we put him down (or even sometimes when holding him) he makes all sorts of noises, including ones which sound like something is caught in his throat, almost like if he were older I'd give him a glass of water to clear his throat.

My questions are:

  • what is this noise, is it normal, can we do anything to help him with this noise?
  • does anyone have recommendations to help with sleep?
  • lullaby trust does not recommend sleeping on an incline but there is an incline function on the snuzpod. Has this been used and worked for anyone else?

Any other reflux hints and tips (aside from those already recommended by NHS) much appreciated.

Have you been the GP ? My baby has horrible reflux he was loosing a lot of weight .

He is on gaviscon and carabel . When he feeds directly from the breast he just has gaviscon . Carabel has been a game changer for us .
