15 month old sleep, separation anxiety or routine change?

Hi looking for advice or similar experiences please.
My 15 month old for the past couple of weeks had started to wake between 9:30 and 12 each night and will stand and cry. He instantly goes back to sleep when I pick him up but will wake each time I try to leave so I end up co sleeping with him.
He has always started the night in his cot and when younger we co slept once he woke in the night but this was always after midnight sometime and prior to this change we had quite a stretch of him sleeping through.

Im just wondering if this could be separation anxiety and just a phase or if his naps could be causing it. He still has two naps and has always been late to drop a nap but just recently to try and fit in two naps without a crazy late bedtime I have cut his first nap right down to 10-20 minutes so that he can have a long early afternoon nap which is usually 2 hours.

Im happy to comfort him but worried I’ve caused this due to cutting the nap!

i have a 17 month old so I’m also in the thick of it , absolutely drop the little nap - they adjust after a week or so .
There is also a sleep regression at some point around 18 months so it could be that too .
my son is also waking up more and more currently and has developed separation anxiety which I’ve put down to developmental

Drop a nap definitely. I agree with PP about a regression at this age. I’m currently up with my 21mo 🫠

Thank you for the help! I’ll go for it with dropping the morning nap, I think because he actually sleeps through once I’m with him ive been worried to change anything but I won’t know unless I try!

Another regression!!! 🫠 hope it gets better for you both soon. Any time I think I’ve cracked the sleep and can relax about it something changes.

Thank you for sharing, our baba went from 12hrs all night and 2-4 in the day to waking and completely distraught. 😫 we never co slept before, he was so good to go down, it has coincided with starting work and him at crèche two afternoons. So we put it down to so many changes, teething and sickness since the crèche. So so exhausted. Using magnesium spray, Epsom salts, ‘Relax’ syrup from Spain, Teedex when teething and sleep support methods from the beginnings of getting an all night routine in place.

@MamaKBOB sleep deprivation is so so hard!
I hope it gets easier for you soon!
We also have teething and these two seem to be bothering him more than any others have.
