Jay Gordon method struggling with phase 3

DD is 14 months and hasn't slept longer than 2 hours since she was 6 months. Usually she wakes every hour. She starts the night in the cot, then comes into our bed at about 11 when (for reasons unknown to us) she refuses to go back down in the cot.

We've started night weaning in the hope she will sleep longer stretches or start self soothing a bit.

We've done the shorten feeds then put down awake phase. Went ok. She fussed a little but was mostly fine with it.

We did the cuddles then put down awake phase. She seemed to sleep a bit better.

Now we're on the don't pick up just pat her back phase and this one is a struggle. She literally crawls on top on me and cries if I try to get her to lie next to me instead.

I'm worried because the whole point is that she learns to fall asleep without my comfort.

Any tips?

I’d say just extend phase 2 a little bit longer then try again… if she’s quite bright you might get away with a 321 cuddle- counting down to putting her down again then patting. But she’s very little so perhaps not… stay calm and play the long game.
