Baby and toddler sharing room

Hi mamas,

So I have a 3 year old girl with her own room and my 1 year old son is in the cot in the other room with my husband and I. We only have a 2 bed and my concern is where my 1 year old will sleep once he is too big for the cot. They will still both be too young for a bunk bed and we don't have the space for 2 kids beds. Any ideas or advice? X

I guess the options are:

He stays with you, in a toddler bed

You swap into the other room if it will take a double, and the kids share the bigger room

You turn a space downstairs into your room, possibly a living room which has a sofa bed for the nights.

Extend

Move.

Get a cot bed cot so baby can stay in with you for another year. Then move onto a bunk bed with proper steps rather than a ladder.

Would the room your DD sleeps in take 2 toddler 2 foot 6 beds? Even if it left no room for anything but sleeping. You could keep their chest of drawers in your room with their clothes in. At some point you'll probably need to move to either a 3 bedroom house or a larger 2 bedroom house but not for a few years providing you don't mind all their toys in the living room.

What was the plan when you decided to go for a second kid?
