My 7 month old has been a rubbish sleeper since the four month regression. He’s EBF and now eating 2 solid meals a day. The sleep has actually recently got a bit better but I am still struggling with night wakings. He self settles at bedtime, he’s put down wide awake and goes to sleep with no help unless overtired at bedtime then he is Pat shh’d in cot. He wakes after 3/ 4 hours then breastfed back to sleep then he wakes every 1/2 hours.
I'm pretty sure that although we’ve broken the feed/ sleep association at bedtime it’s being reinforced during the night wakings. This also seems to be leading to early waking 5/ 5.30am the last few days which is what is breaking me on top of the 3 or 4 night feeds. My question is how do I break the association at night? I don’t mind feeding him if he’s genuinely hungry but ideally not 4 times and I want to break the reliance on needing to be fed back to sleep. He usually feeds with eyes shut the whole time.
I have tried to send my partner in but he gets really upset untiI I go in and feed.
He has three 30- 40 minute naps per day at 9ish, 12ish and 4ish. We try to wake at 7am and bedtime is 7.30am. He has always had short naps since about 3.5 months. Occasionally he will do longer in pram or car. He is rocked to sleep for naps or we are out. I cannot seem to get him to fall asleep independently for naps.
Any advice welcome! 😊
