Hi all, bit of context - my 2.5 year old was in a cot until recently transitioning to a bed as he was able to climb out. In the cot his sleep was great 7/7:30pm - 6am with a one hourish nap at home or nursery. We fully expected sleep to go a bit sideways when we introduced the bed but I’m at a bit of a loss in what to try next. He was taking quite a while to go to sleep at nights and waking super early (4am/4:30am) so we decided to cap the nap at 45/30mins for a couple of weeks which didn’t work. It caused night wakings and early mornings were still happening. When he wakes up at that time we keep him in his room, dark, no toys etc and try to get him back to sleep but very rarely he does. He’s then stuck in an early cycle because he’s taking himself back to bed at 10/11am for a sleep which I try entertain him keep him awake a bit later as we’re stuck in a loop. I tried bringing back the slightly longer nap too but he’s still waking at 4:30am for the day. I know baby/toddler sleep is a minefield and not always “fixable” but the 4:30am starts are killing me off working full time and being 6 months pregnant. Any ideas? I don’t think he needs the nap dropped altogether but also if he did I don’t know how he would make it through the day (well he wouldn’t!)
also he doesn’t sleep in the bed with us, although we didn’t want this we have tried a couple of times and he just thinks it’s play time jumping around 😅
