Gentle sleep training - naps failing

Starting sleep training my (almost) 10 month old using a gentle approach (lay him in crib awake, I sit next to his crib until he falls asleep). He has never self settled / cot settled so this is the aim.

I really need help though! At bedtime, I don’t mind how long it takes but for nap training, I’m on edge as it’s eating into his nap schedule / day schedule.

He naps at 2pm, it was 3.15 by the time he fell asleep and now I’m worried when he wakes it will be too close to bedtime.

i’m only on my 2nd day of sleep training. Please please send advice and experience

Gentle sleep training methods take a long time, weeks really and you will have an overtired baby in the meantime. So you need to be patient if this is what you want. With naps, you need a cut off at which you cut the nap so it doesn't affect bedtime. So if he fell asleep at 3.15 and you need him awake by 3.30, just wake him up.
