Nap refuser, cot escaper!

Hello
my LO is 2.3 and is now able to escape his cot.
For his safety I want to take the sides off (it’s a cot bed) but the issue is he is, and always has been, a reluctant napper even though he is desperate for the sleep and still naps 1.5/2 hours a day.

We co sleep occasionally and Ive trialled letting him nap in our bed alone in the daytime but he always escapes.

Im now worried about taking the sides off as I can just see the daytime naps being an absolute disaster and him coming out of his bed non stop.

Any tips?

My middle DD was this way! But we had to take the sides off as she would just climb out of the cot and I was terrified she would fall. In the end I put the toddler bed against the wall and kept putting her back first three times I would say something like it’s nap time and then I just would stop engaging and kept putting her back. It was exhausting and it took about 1.5 week for her to stay put. Good luck OP

You could try a nap matt, some kids prefer it to the bed.
You might also want to transition into a toddler bed maybe.
You could also just to be safe get some foam to place around the little ones cot. Or maybe even try to put pool noodles around him whilst hes sleeping in your bed. so under the sheets to maybe keep him from moving away.
