Where to start with sleep training - 15mo

Need some help with where to start with improving our 15mo's sleep please!

She used to go to sleep on her own in her cot (with me in the room) but a run of development / teething / illness means that for the past 4 months we've been hugging her to sleep. I was ok with that (other than the 3+ wakes a night...) until recently she's started to get really unhappy before she falls asleep - crying, thrashing around etc and I'm not sure what to do. I've tried putting her in her cot when this happens but she stands up crying or lays on her back and screams. Getting her to sleep can take 1-2hrs and is exhausting for all of us

Me and OH are at our wits end between this, multiple wakes and cosleeping part way through the night (I lose the will to live and pop her in with us as she's more likely to do a longer stretch). I was anti sleep training but feel like we need to do something because current situation isn't working for anyone

Has anyone had experience sleep training an older baby? All the advice I can see seems targeted to 6m when they can't move!

Would a floor bed be easier? By that age many toddlers prefer it. That way, you can easily cuddle her to sleep lying down and then sneak away. Rather than having to get her into a deep sleep to put her down in a cot which is harder.
Also, what's her napping like? Is she under or over tired?

I would but we don't have the space here to do it safely (moving in a couple of months and will def try then if we're still having troubles!)

She naps really well, 1 per day going down between 12-1 and will go for 2-2.5hrs+ (we hug her to sleep for this too) . I normally end up waking her so she doesn't sleep past 2hrs as otherwise bedtime gets so so late

Childminder has said she their best sleeper and lays down on her mat and falls asleep, I'm a bit at a loss of what to try to replicate at home!
