Tiredness

Hi, I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks with chronic fatigue. I’ve been feeling constantly tired now for at least 3/4 years, I’ve been back and forth to the doctors for blood tests ect and everything seems to be fine. I had breast implants and read that they could be the cause so went down the route of having an explant, while I did notice at the time my fatigue improved for a little while it’s come back with a vengeance. I can sleep 8-9hrs a night but then need to nap at least 2-3 times a day for 35-1hrs the length ranges. I constantly feel drained. I’m at a loss of what it could be. I do take vitamins my diet isn’t the best but could also be a lot worse. I just want to be able to function properly through the day. The doctors say all my bloods are fine so I really don’t know where to go from here? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I’m 34 just to add

Have you been investigated for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea? Otherwise if all bloods are fine, I would ask whether your Dr feels you may have ME/CFS and ask for referral to your local service for treatment

Have you had a sleep study done? Do you have a smartwatch that can monitor your sleep activity?

Laurayellow · 11/02/2025 16:29

@unsync yes i have used a smart watch in the past I don’t tend to use it these days as i found I became a little obsessed with it. My sleep tracking was always good though and always had a high score for sleep. I dont tend to be restless while I sleep and do tend to get a good solid amount of good time in each cycle. I never have any trouble falling asleep either, I just wake up exhausted everyday and even after my naps ill wake up feeling refreshed but it only lasts an hour or so and I’m back feeling like I need to nap again

@Richtea67 Hi, yes I had mentioned this to my Dr and she advised that there isn’t any specific test you can do to see if you have ME/CFS and because the symptoms are so very general to other conditions it’s hard to say. 😕 I don’t think the Dr is taking it as a serious condition and albeit it, it may not be as serious as a lot of illness’s some people have it is effecting my day to day life

Dr talking rubbish...it is a diagnosis of exclusion but there is very clear diagnostic guidance in the NICE 2021 guidelines. You may need to have a read of these do go back to Dr armed with all the info, if you did want to pursue a diagnosis. I would definitely rule out sleep apnea first though, that is very easily tested for, usually by respiratory services

Have they actually checked vitamin D and B12, folate and ferritin as these are not part of routine blood tests and have to be asked for .

If they are all low you will be very tired.

Get them checked out and take the supplements if you have low levels

Laurayellow · 11/02/2025 20:52

@redfishcat yes I take vitamin D and also B12 spray as I know we are generally deficient in it anyway so I take quite a high dosage of both. When I had my bloods I did ask to be tested specifically for iron as I know that the general one is quite vague and all came back to be ok. I’m just at a loss of what could be causing it. I know it’s normal to feel tired from time to time but I am absolutely exhausted every single day. I’ve tried reducing carbs at certain times and tried to manage my blood sugar levels so I don’t get crashes but nothing seems to be working

You say your diet is poor.
What are you actually eating?
When I was vegetarian I found that by mid afternoon I was completely wiped out
Reintroduced meat into my diet and things significantly improved.

Laurayellow · 11/02/2025 21:17

@TammyJones i just mean I don’t always eat as healthy as I can, I work a busy job, I’m also a mum so life in general is busy and I don’t always get chance to eat breakfast I’ll sometimes swap it for a shake on the go or dinner can sometimes be a lot later in the evening. I eat all food including red meat and fish. I don’t feel my diet overall is enough to make me as tired as I am.
