5 year old waking in the night

For the last few months my 5 year old keeps waking in the night and getting into our bed.

I honestly don't know what to do to stop it. He says it's because he gets lonely.

We have a regular routine of bath, bed time story with cuddles and then we turn on his yoto player.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Parent of a 5 year old here….

We’ve had a period of this and the only way we cracked it was by giving a snuggly toy for bedtime. It ended up being one he had when he was a toddler. Their imaginations are wild at this age and there is every chance he is feeling lonely. It’s lovely he seeks comfort with you

So we could get some sleep we put a cot mattress on the floor next to the bed they just came in and went straight to sleep again. Did it with 4 of mine they all grow out if it eventually.

Last night I used a pregnancy pillow in his bed (told him it was a cuddle cushion) he did wake up once but was able to get him to stay in his bed eventually. Hopefully we have a successful night soon just so I can get some sleep!
