camping with baby

We would like to go camping when DD is about 7-8mo and have been wondering what to sleep her in. We sleep in a double sleeping bag and don't want to put her in there, she'd be too big for a pop up travel cot, normal travel cot would be too big for tent. When we were in the market yesterday, I spotted a stall selling dog beds. It looks perfect, an oval one with sides and a padded base. Am I crazy for thinking a dog bed would be a great place for my baby to sleep or would it be ok?
