Right sleep clothes for 17/18 degrees

Hi
My 4.5 month old has been waking up quite frequently at night, we've done a bit of light sleep training and following sleep consultant guidance - but tonight we think maybe he's a bit cold. The room is usually between 17-18 degrees and we've dress him in short sleeved vest, long sleeved baby grow and a 1.5 tog sleep bag.

Tonight we've but him in the vest and baby grow and changed to a 2.5 tog sleep bag.

Do people think this is okay and will it make any difference?

TIA

Why are you sleep training at 4.5 month? That’s so sad

I said light sleep training... Pick up put down method which is recommended as most effective at this age. He's not crying it out and he's not being left alone.

But thanks for the super helpful comment - definitely worth the time you took to write it.

I think what you had on was fine, but give a 2.5 tog a go if you think he was cold.

I definitely overdressed DS compared to others but I'm sure he got cold. We kept DS room over 18 degrees and he was in long sleeve pjs and 2.5 bag so I think the extra vest given the room is a bit cooler than that is ok

Most online guides suggest a 2.5tog sleeping bag, sleepsuit and vest for 16-18c so I would say 1.5tog is too thin for this temp. Especially if it drops in the middle of the night.

In this weather we’ve been doing vest, baby grow/pj’s and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. If it’s extra chilly we add some bed socks.

There are loads of charts out there suggesting tog/clothes for various temperatures.
The one I looked at suggested 2.5 tog and long sleeves for 18-20.
So 1.5tog bag sounds too little.
