Mum guilt!

Feeling so guilty but my 13 month old has started going to bed in short sleeved vest, pj bottoms and 1.0 tog and room is only between 18-19 but found he’s sleeping so much better. So much guilt that he’s not wearing sleeves?! Should I feel bad or not if he’s sleeping well? Mum guilt!

No you shouldn’t feel guilty! He’s obviously comfortable. Why did you reduce the amount of clothing etc for bedtime in the first place? I presume he was getting too hot?

18°c is the recommended temperature for a bedroom so room temperature is fine. Why don't you put a long sleeve top on DC if that's what you would like them to wear?

Or ditch the sleeping bag and give them a toddler duvet instead. Mine used to kick the duvet off during the falling asleep process but I would go into their room to check on them before I went to bed and put the duvet back over them.

@Pineapplewaves surely the point if the sleeping bag is they don't kick it off?
OP why feel guilty? If he's sleeping he's fine.

So he had his jabs on Thursday and had a slight temp so put him in a 1 tog and short sleeved vest, then he actually slept fine even though his temperature had gone down! Then same as last night!

If he’s asleep and comfortable he’s fine. Why put him in clothes he doesn’t want or need ‘just because’?

CockerMum · 04/01/2025 21:50

Maybe he just prefers a cooler room. Overheating is dangerous for babies. 18 dev sounds fine

Nodlikeyouwerelistening · 04/01/2025 21:51

Some people run hot, some cold. Children are no different.
Put it this way. He isn’t going to freeze in 18 degrees. He’s also an age where he will make it very clear to you if he’s uncomfortable.

wildthingsinthenight · 04/01/2025 21:53

Carry on with what you are doing OP.
He is obviously nice and cool and comfy
