5 month old won’t nap in cot

Looking for some advice! My DS is 5 months and will only nap on me, in the car or in the pram. It’s great cos I can get out and about but I could really do with morning naps in the cot to get stuff done. ATM we have to rock and cuddle to sleep, the second he’s put down her wakes up. We will be starting sleep training soon but any tips on mastering cot naps? Putting him down awake will not work xx

No tips as my 8 month old is the same and always has been! But solidarity! X

Both mine just started doing it of their own accord when slightly older (6-9 months). I would just keep trying the morning nap in the cot once a week and I'm sure eventually they will take to it. I'm sure you've tried mimicking their nighttime rountine to put them down. Both of mine were BF to sleep at that age so I would feed them as normal in the sleeping bag and them put them in dark room with the white noise on etc. they both got the hang of it eventually but I think about 6 months old for the second one, and quite a lot later for the first (he only did it when he was down to one nap).

My DC never napped in cot. I just endured! Grew out of day naps at around 2.5.

I'm afraid mine never did nap in the cot ( no problems at night). I just used to walk him round the block in the pram/ push chair and leave him. He never slept for more than 30mins anyhow (DD was a shock with her 2.5 hour naps!).

Thanks all! My worry is when he has to go to childcare. We tried again this morning and eyes open the second he’s put down!

we are going to start the Ferber method next week for night time so thinking once he gets the hang of that maybe try for naps
