how do I get my 3 month old into some sort of a routine?

Hi, I have just begun attempting to get my wee one into something approaching a routine, nothing too strict but trying to encourage her to take a nap during the morning and then again in the afternoon, so that I can get on with stuff. It is sort of working but now seems to mean that she wakes more in the night.

Previous to my attempts, her daytime naps were totally random, and she slept 6-7 hrs at night, needing only one feed. Now she wakes 2-3 times at night.

Should I persevere or should I have left things as they were?

keep a diary of her naps / feeds for a week or so?
at this age, they never seem to be able to last much longer than 2 hours before needing another kip.

Honestly?

I would enjoy this phase as you can get out and about whilst baby naps in sling/pram and not be tied to the house while they sleep in their cot.

I'd rather have decent night-time sleeps over good daytime naps any day... (and my DS is a long-time crap sleeper!).

I found routine fell into place more at around 6 months when I started introducing food. Regular mealtimes seemed to give more of a routine to the day and naps followed.
