Dear all,

I hope you all are doing well.

My LO has recently been waking up at 5am and won't go to sleep again for around an hour.

Usually he wakes up like 9ish, nap is 12 till like 2ish and then another nap is like 6ish till 7. 30 or 8idh and sleeps around 12am. Then wakes at 5am.

Yesterdsy we went out for a meal. He must have been tired so actually fell asleep 8.30pm and didn't wake till 4am.

After that I just couldn't get him to sleep till like 6.45.

My worry is, is there a reason he waking up at these times like sleep regression due to developmental milestones etc, teething, I know he has another tooth coming out but I am worried as I don't know whether I'm supposed to get him back to sleep or am I supposed to just think that's his wake up time and offer him breakfast?

I thought they need 12 hour nighttime sleep?

That's why I didn't make breakfast that early on just incase he goes to sleep again.

Please help me as I am feeling really guilty for not knowing his cues etc and what I'm supposed to do.

Sounds like he's having a lot of day sleep, probably too much. He's approaching the age where they drop to one nap and usually that will only be 1.5 - 3 hours depending upon how much day sleep they need! Also, you say he goes to bed at midnight? That's very late! But i guess if you want him to sleep until 9am then it makes sense. Ours dropped to one nap at 15 months and had 2 - 2.5 hours for a while but within 2 months we had to cut it to 1.5 hours are she was waking for long periods in the night.
