Baby only sleeps with hairdryer on

My baby is 6 month old will only go to sleep with the hairdryer on, even after 2/3 hours if I turn it off he will wake up. I’ve tried YouTube & bought 3 different sound machines that mimic a hair dryer sound but they aren’t great and don’t work for him. Can anyone recommend a sound machine that actually does sound like a hairdryer. TIA.

Have you tried recording your hairdryer?

This is a great idea, then you can gradually lower the volume over time!

I’d have thought a hair dryer running for that long would be a fire risk 😬 Definitely record it.

Hi OP, I've attached a screenshot of the white noise app that we use for our little one, we use the fan sound setting but it has a hairdryer sound setting already built in. The app is free and plays continuously for 8 hours, then you can stop and start it again. I think you can upgrade to premium and it will play for longer

Have you tried a fan instead?

We had this and eventually managed to get away from it by using a noise called ‘airplane cabin noise’ on Spotify it was 8hrs long and it had a picture of plane seats and a blue filter over the picture. We tried all sorts of other noises but that was the only one that worked.

@dinosaur game I think the baby likes to hear that sound the hair dryer makes.

Have a look at the Yoto player. We bought one for our dd when she was 1 and it's still going 7 years later. You buy cards for it but they also have all the sleep sounds inc hairdryer that my dd still has on for bed on occasion!

I feel your pain. Definitely had this with one of them and sort of muddled through with a Spotify track

it was a short lived phase.

do they still do Ewan the dream sheep? That had a good white noise
